PRIVATE EXCURSION OF LANDING BEACHES IN NORMANDY

LANDING BEACHES:
You can start your excursion with the Pointe du Hoc where the famous American landing operations took place. Located on Utah Beach and Omaha Beach, the Pointe du Hoc was fortified by German troops, this is why American rangers decided to take control of this strategic place.

You can then go to Omaha Beach, the Normandy landing beach where important human losses took place. You will also visit the famous American Cemetery, a wide necropolis which overlooks the beach, and the brand new visitor center. A place of remembrance where personal stories, photos, movies, interactive presentations and objects from that period are collected.

>> Enthusiasts about the Normandy landing will go on by visiting the new Overlord Museum of Colleville Sur Mer. It has a very impressive collection of armored vehicles and uniforms. The war staging sets and decorum are spectacular !

Located on the Arromanches clifftops, the 360° Circular Theater offers a fantastic view on the remnants of the artificial Mulberry harbour set up by the Allies. The high definition movie projected on 360° circular screens was produced by the authors of hugely successful Apocalypse movie. The incredible mounting of archive footage tells the story of the crucial battle of Normandy.

The afternoon will be dedicated to the city of Bayeux a charming city that holds many treasures, such as its famous tapestry, wonderful heritage of the Middle Ages, the old Bayeux and its majestic and huge cathedral. Bayeux is located near the landing beaches of Normandy. It was the first city in France to be released and to have kept a rich architectural and cultural heritage by the end of the Battle of Normandy.

BAYEUX TAPESTRY MUSEUM

Classified as "Memory of the World" by UNESCO, the Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidery of 70 meters long, created in the eleventh century. Celebrating the conquest of England by William, Duke of Normandy, the canvas was probably embroidered after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Two different visits are possible:

• 45 mn visit: with film and audio guided visit of the Tapestry museum
• 30 mn visit: with only audio guided visit of the Tapestry museum
